I got the idea for this story and decided that I would write it for NaNoWriMo 2006. After only getting five chapters written during the month of November, I continued to work on it throughout 2007 and finally finished writing it in early September 2007.

The working title for this story was Sandcastle, but the official title is When It All Falls Apart.

All Isaac wanted was to get married and settle down. But when his younger brother married the girl he [Isaac] loved behind his back, with the knowledge of his family, Isaac decided that he didn't need them. He moved to Seattle, Washington and quickly befriended a group of twenty-somethings that didn't have any family either. Two years later, when Isaac thought his life was perfect, a face from the past appeared and threatened to ruin everything he had come to know.
